Our goal is to create figures and busts with ease and
joy, in a relaxed ambiance in either a classical, impressionistic,
or abstract style, since each of us creates his/her
own vision. The small classes for five to seven people
allow students as much help and advice as desired. Beginners
as well as advanced students are welcome in the weekly
classes or in the weekend workshops. We work in terra
cotta from the sculpting through the firing process.
We also work in wax and plastiline for students who
wish to have their pieces cast in bronze.
My method is simple. I begin with a detailed demonstration
of the nose, ears, eyes, and mouth. Very quickly students
begin a 3/4-size bust in terra cotta. From there, we
move on to projects of the student's choice. A life
model is available to sculpt three times during the
6-week session.
